Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used for over 3,000 years. It encompasses acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, and herbal medicine. Acupuncturists use thin, pre-sterilized needles to stimulate the meridians & points to prevent and treat disease in order to regulate and unblock the person’s energy channels. Chinese medical practitioners treat each person individually taking into account the whole pattern of the patient’s physical and mental-emotional symptoms.

The World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health recognize acupuncture as an effective treatment for:

Chronic & Acute Pain: Injuries, headaches, neck and back pain, tendinitis, sciatica, and carpal tunnel syndrome

Upper Respiratory Disorders: Asthma, allergies, colds and flu

Digestive Disorders: IBS, constipation, food allergies and ulcers

Mood Disorders: Depression, Anxiety and Insomnia

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is the method of using glass or plastic cups to create localized pressure by a vacuum. Cupping helps warm and promote the free flow of Qi (the body's energy) and blood in the meridians (pathways). It will also help diminish swelling and pain. Cupping is often used to treat: pain of low back, shoulders, and legs; gastrointestinal disorders; and lung diseases such as cough and asthma.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a treatment that incorporates scraping to bring up “sha” or stagnation in tissues and release it from the body. This in turn will help promote the flow of Qi (the body’s energy) and blood in the area, relieving pain. It’s used to treat: common cold, flu, bronchitis, strains, sprains and muscle spasms.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Often times practitioners will recommend Chinese herbal formulas to enhance your healing process. They are natural materials; most made from plants and food. There are 400 commonly used herbs, each with specific properties and functions. Chinese herbs are often taken in the form of tablets, pills, tinctures, or teas.
